I am a Sussex based airbrush artist, with over 6 years
experience in airbrushing. I trained in illustration,
although at the time, the subjects that interested me
horrified my tutors! Needless to say, the airbrush was a
tool that was frowned upon, so it was some years before I
got round to using one.
A big help to my development as an airbrusher was due to the
now defunct TES Performance in East Grinstead, especially
their talented mechanic/ designer/ customizer Alan Wells,
who consistently had faith in my abilities, and not only
would push my way of thinking, but also push commissions my
way! A few of those commissions even got my work into the
pages of Streetfighters magazine on more than one occasion.
Every commission, be it a full bike project or a crash
helmet has a life of its own, so apart from initial design,
prep and polishing, there is no regimented formula to custom
painting. Design is done the old fashioned way with a paper
and pencil, although if text is to be included in the
artwork, I will use my plotter cutter and the computer to
make a stencil. In the main, I use Createx Auto Air Colours,
sometimes for the whole piece, sometimes only for
airbrushing over a solvent base coat, applied with my trusty
Iwata airbrushes.
Please feel free to contact me
regarding painting your pride and joy!
